Mary Eileen McDonnell born 28 April 1952 is an American stage acting, film and television actress. She has received an Academy Award nod for the role she was in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. Alongside this McDonnell is also well-known for her role as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) and the wife of the president in Independence Day as well as her leading role as Donnie Darko's mom.
